New Vic Announces One Night Events

The New Vic has revealed the one-night events set to take place on its stage across April to June, with a range of spine-tingling music, comedy, spoken word and even tap dancing!

World-class musicians will spellbind audiences in April and May, starting with Mark Morriss and Adam Devlin from Britpop legends The Bluetones who go acoustic for a special performance on Wednesday 17 April. The duo will be performing classics from The Bluetones’ canon whilst sharing stories, with support from local North Staffordshire poet Nick Degg.

Hejira – A Celebration of Joni Mitchell follows on Monday 22 April and sees a seven-piece band comprised of highly experienced jazz musicians play tasteful jazz renditions of classics such as AmeliaWoodstockA Case Of YouSong For Sharon and Edith And The Kingpin to honour Joni Mitchell’s greatest music,

On Thursday 30 May, award-winning jazz vocalist Jacqui Dankworth explores a sparkling collection of songs past, present and future drawn from both her highly praised studio albums, and songs which have inspired her career, in an intimate concert.

Copper-turned comedian Alfie Moore, star of BBC Radio 4’s It’s A Fair Cop, brings his hilarious show A Face For Radio to the New Vic on Friday 21 June giving insight into his time on the beat.

Following this, dance sensation An Evening with The Tap Chaps takes audiences on a walk down memory lane on Tuesday 25 June. From 42nd Street to I Got Rhythm and Mr Bojangles, they take classic numbers and give them a modern twist in this fast paced, high-energy show.

Finally, the inspiring Lemn Sissay makes a return to the New Vic with a new show sharing poems from his life-affirming and witty collection Let The Light Pour In on Saturday 29 June.
